Central Washington has many charms. For Seattlites and Portlanders the dry high-desert climate is a welcome relief. It's hot and dry in the summer, and cold and dry throughout the winter. Spring and fall are delightful. Within 25 miles of Tieton you can find many kinds of landscape. To the west, alpine forests, lakes, and rivers. Sagebrush steppe, farms, orchards, vineyards, and dessert are all near.

Yakima has a vibrant cultural life. The agricultural and wine industries provide substantial support for the entire economy. Winery tours are huge in the area.
