Mighty Tieton

Art and Mighty Tieton

Art is central to Mighty Tieton's efforts. Each member of the initial group that dreamed up Might Tieton is involved in the art world in some way. The decisions that went into considering and developing the buildings we purchased were informed by inspiring art spaces, galleries, museums, studios, and art installation venues. Each one of us has a deep sense of the importance of art in daily life, and in the economic benefits artists can bring to underutilitized neighborhoods — and small rural towns.

We have studios, installations, occasionally performances, exhibitions, workshops and seminars, retreats, residences, festivals, and fundraisers. Hundreds of artists have visited, participated in exhibits, and worked here in one way or another.

Mighty Tieton is not a non-profit organization. Our resources are modest. Most of us are small business owners who work every day to keep our primary businesses going. We are not able to give grants or fund major projects.

However, we do have unused space, some studio facilities, and we can assist artists in individual and special ways. We like to have artists here, working, engaging with the community, making art that can be displayed in some of our odd spaces, helping to make Tieton a livelier town, connected with broader cultural ambitions.

The best way to find out if something might work for you and for us is to send us a brief description of what you have in mind. What are you trying to accomplish? How might you fit into what we have here? How long will it take? What's the final result? How does it fit in Tieton? Send your idea to ed@mightytieton.com.

Trimpin's piece Klompen was installed in Galeria Tres, a raw storefront space across from Tieton Park. It's been used to display chadeliers from our winter festival, and as an artist in residence studio. We are open to good ideas for that space.
