The inspiration for Mighty Tieton owes a lot to artists and the spirit of artistic creativity and resourcefulness. As Tieton develops, some of the artists who are contributing in different ways to the larger enterprise include:
Hector Acebes is a photographer based in Bogotá, Colombia. Photographs from his Portraits in Africa: 1948-1953 will be on display in the temporary gallery on the corner of Maple and Wisconsin during Art Takes Flight on June 16. Tieton will become the home of the Hector Acebes Archive.
Sandra Dean is an artist and lecturer on art and spirituality. Her book, A Tree of Life, was published in 2004.
Scott Skinner and Ali Fujino of the Drachen Foundation are internationally recognized for their work on kites, their history, cultural contexts, and uses in artistic expression and scientific research. In the coming years, the Drachen Foundation will host international art kite symposiums.
Robert and Fay Jones are exceptionally accomplished painters. In addition to setting up studios in Tieton, Fay will be building the printmaking studio, and connecting Mighty Tieton to the broader print making community.
Diego Samper is an artist and photographer from Bogotá, Colombia. Currently based in Vancouver, B.C., Samper has created Morph, a sculptural installation in a temporary gallery at Maple and Wisconsin, across from Tieton Park.
Matt Sellars is a sculptor who shows at Platform Gallery in Seattle. His barn sculptures are installed in the Mighty Tieton Warehouse.
Lori Talcott is a fourth-generation jeweler. Her art jewelry is collected around the world, and she teaches workshops in jewelry techniques in the United States and Norway.
Trimpin is artist whose sculptures create music or tonal sensations that entertain, inspire, and transport. He is a MacArthur Grant winner, has been profiled in the New Yorker Magazine, and has work installed in museums around the world. His Shhh, Fire Organ, and Bells of Tieton were featured at the Art Takes Flight in Tieton this last June.
Several art organizations are key to Tieton's eventual success as a creative center. These include:
